Sustainable Production Practices (Pre-COVID)

Updated: Aug 4, 2020

In order to build a better world, it’s important for individuals to make small changes in their daily lives to help reduce their carbon footprint, but it is even more important for leaders, decision-makers, and media platforms to set the example, not only for their employees but for the general public.

In January of 2020, our production company PAXEROS took the pledge to uphold and operate our film productions in sustainable and eco-friendly ways, in addition to, collaborating with companies whose values align with our own.

A few weeks later, we had the opportunity to actualize our pledge by producing a suite of social videos for True Botanicals, a natural & organic skincare company that develops, produces, packages, and ships MADE SAFE® certified products in ways that minimize their impact on the environment, making them “safe for people and the planet”.

By committing to producing content and commercials for only eco-friendly and sustainable brands and companies allows us, at PAXEROS, to build and promote a better world: the type of world we are proud to live in.

Outlined below are the production practices PAXEROS implements throughout Pre-Production, Production, and Post, to lower our carbon footprint.

Pre-Production:

  • We send out deal memos via HelloSign for legally binding electronic signatures. This removes the need for printing cast/crew agreements.

  • We onboard our cast and crew through Wrapbook, a paperless payroll company. This eliminates hard copies of start forms, loan out start/close forms, W9s, or 1099s and allows cast and crew to fill and sign everything online.

  • We send out call sheets, schedules, and shot lists via Google Drive and StudioBinder, the cloud-based film production management software. StudioBinder distributes call sheets via text and email, allowing cast & crew to respond and confirm via an easy-to-click link.

Production / On Set:

  • We provide a communal water jug to reduce plastic water bottle waste and we encourage Cast, Crew, & Clients to bring their own reusable water bottle to refill throughout the day.

  • We also provide PAXEROS branded stainless steel cups for those who forgot their water bottles at home, with the option to keep their cup as PAXEROS swag.

  • We offer 3 waste receptacles: Trash, Recycling, and Compost

  • We encouraging Cast, Crew, & Clients to carpool to set, if possible and/or convenient

  • Our craft service department purchases and serves snacks in bulk to reduce single packaged snacks.

  • When possible, we order vegan lunches to reduce the amount of meat/dairy production.

  • We provide compostable bamboo utensils, plates, and napkins as well as paper straws

Post Production:

  • We donate to the non-profit 1% for the Planet which ensures donations go to credible and respected environmental non-profits around the world!

We were ecstatic to kick off the new year by implementing all these production practices as we collaborated with True Botanicals on their suite of social videos. We’ve continued to do this on every production thenceforth.

Our efforts to lower our carbon footprint, improve our sustainability, and give back to the world are direct examples of how PAXEROS operates as an ethos-driven production company. We hope to inspire other production companies to take the pledge and put their ethos first!
